A dog named Autumn

This is a video that I did yesterday of the continuing story of Autumn, a stray dog that has stollen the hearts of The Day's readership.

Hodge-Podge

Friday Nov. 21, 2008

Here is a few things that I have seen and done over the last month. I finally had a quiet moment to post them. Above and Below are photos from the installation of a new Bishop in New London.

Groton - Voting lines

Bridgeport - on the trail with Jim Himes

East Lyme - laughs at ballet practice

Hard Realities

New London - This is a sequence of photos from a shooting several weeks ago now. This type of violence is ugly and real. I never covered much in the way of shootings when I worked in New Hampshire. Now, it has become an all too familiar sight.

"YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE!"

Groton - So what does a Darth Vader quote have to do with Veteran's Day you ask? Absolutely nothing! It has to do with my new title. I am now a Multi-Media Producer for TheDay.com. This has been my transition week from the world of still photography, to the world of movement and sound. Mind, I am still shooting stills (and lots of them) but from now on the emphasis of my work will be web based verses newsprint. This certainly includes, but is not limited to, lots more video. For the time being I will have my feet in both worlds...just not at the same time.

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!

Friday Oct. 31, 2008

New London - Happy Halloween one and all. I am taking some time out of my PJ work today for some Halloween fun. This is a photo that I took several nights ago in the attic of a home that my wife and I were touring. This image (other than contrast) has not been altered or manipulated in any way. And what should appear but Orbs.

Many people believe that Orbs are signs of paranormal activity...I however am not one of them. I think that they are signs of dust or other debris. The problem is, is that they are not as easily photographically explained away as that. I ran this photo through all sorts of tests and could not explain the ghostly images away. They produce no shadows, yet they reflect light. Through my research I have found that well over 98% of all orb photography, are photos taken with flash, usually on a point-and-shoot camera. This is crucial because the flash and lens are on the same axis, or in other words, in my opinion, Orbs are about the same a Red Eye. Or caused by the same science. I have yet to see an orb in a natural light photo, or a photo where the flash is "off camera".

With all that said, I cannot fully explain this photo. Elvis, and Jimi Hendrix were not in the attic with me. Neither did I see any balls of light floating around. I will post more, if Em and I end up buying the house. Until then...THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE! cue the x-files theme music.

New batch

Oct. 7, 2008 - A new batch of photos from the last few weeks.

New London - Hurricane party with the remnants of Tropical Storm Hannah.

New London - A father and daughter honor vigil for fallen soldiers.

Westerly, RI - The great New England feature photo of surfers in storms.

Montville - Yes, it was raining that hard.

Gales Ferry - Peek-a-boo!

Waterford - and finally, what to you do when the race gets Red Flagged at the very start because the fire apparatus gets called out to an accident outside the facility? What else...get an ice cream.

New York Times

Sunday Sept. 28, 2008

With special thanks to the Associated Press, I was in the New York Times today for a front page story. Of course my photo was on page 22, but hey, it was for a story on John McCain's tie to casino gambling. I took the photo months ago for the grand opening of the MGM Grand a Foxwoods. Week in Review Aug. 26 - 30, 2008

Jewett City - Neighbors react to the news that an infant was killed in a handgun accident in the apartment building down the street Thursday Aug. 28th.

Woodstock - A 4 year-old shows his discomfort with the idea of watching a cow give birth at the Barnyard Babies exhibit at the Woodstock Fair. The exhibit features Holstein cattle that are due to give birth at any moment.

East Hartford - UConn ends their warm up at sunset before their season opener against Hofstra Thursday Aug. 28th.

A UConn player emerges from a cloud of fire extinguisher exhaust as the team takes the field.

It was a bad night to be the Hofstra quarterback

Waterford - Back to school in Quaker Hill Tuesday Aug. 26th.

East Hartford - And finally, perhaps my favorite unpublished shot of the week...I guess this is what they mean by "Thank you for your service" as members of the Army color guard are shown appreciation by UConn fans as they watch the game.

Summer catch-up

Friday Aug. 15, 2008

Newport, RI - "He shoots, He Scores!" Well no, not really. It has been a crazy summer with little to no time to post, so here is the mid-year catch-up of photos that have been sitting on my desk top for weeks now. I am off to the woods next week, so I will be going dark again for at least a week. Enjoy.
